Media to the Masses
Together Liberia (TL) needs your help to ensure the Liberian people have a voice in the upcoming 2011 presidential election by participating in our Media for the Masses gear drive. TL is an initiative to empower Liberians by providing information tools and training they can use to ensure public voice and media coverage in the 2011 elections. TL sponsors (Syracuse University, New School University, and other US universities) are collaborating to support Liberian NGOs, universities, and media organizations.
Liberia currently lacks the resources to comprehensively provide for information needs, such as voter education, media training and capacity development. Need is especially great in underrepresented groups such as rural populations, youth, and women, who often feel disconnected from national issues and civic life. Failure to address these needs equates to loss of public voice, participation, and media freedom – and can intensify conflict.
We request that you join the effort to promote public voice and media freedom in the 2011 Liberian election by contributing to the TL Media Freedom Gear Drive.
